ONE WAY

The cold has a stark beauty, as light filters through the crisp air. I left the equator to live on unfamiliar earth.

As I contemplate the years ahead, I know this path was only one of many that opened before me the day I left.

My friends bring me news about the exciting paths they have taken. And where I am but here, in the middle of nowhere?

What am I doing with my life? Is this truly what I want to do? But questions like these lead to nothing but endless searching and disappointment.

I made a decision to stop deciding. Going one direction means I'm not going another.

It's a road dotted with self-doubt. A thousand options span out like a river delta, but I'm going one way.

After I make that choice, the others become distractions.
